Orval “Lee” Rodgers Obituary

Orval "Lee" Rodgers, a man of unwavering faith and love, passed away at the age of 75 on October 13, 2023, in the comfort of his home, with his devoted family by his side. He was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to his  parents, Orval Rodgers and Helen (Fossett) Rodgers, on March 9, 1948.

Lee's life was a testament to his deep commitment to his faith, family and country.   He served with honor and dedication in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1974, during the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Enterprise. 

On September 22, 1966, Lee married the love of his life, Edith Cate. Their union was a partnership built on love, trust, and unwavering devotion. Together, they navigated the joys and challenges of life, supporting one another with unbreakable bonds until her death 11/29/2021.

Lee's work life was marked by dedication and commitment. For 20 years, he served as a valued member of the maintenance team at Texas Christian University, ensuring the campus ran smoothly and efficiently. He approached his work with the same passion that defined all aspects of his life.

Throughout his life, Lee also felt a deep calling to serve God.  He served as  Pastor at Nimrod Baptist, Harmony Baptist and as a guest pastor at various churches. His spiritual guidance and unwavering faith touched the lives of many, offering comfort and inspiration to those who knew him.

Lee was predeceased by his loving parents, his cherished wife Edith, and his beloved son Joey. He is survived by his son Billy Rodgers and wife Kim of Cisco, TX, along with his grandson Cole Rodgers, granddaughter Halie Rodgers, and his great-grandchildren Hunter, Holston, and Hayden.

Services to celebrate Lee's life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Mangum Baptist Church, located at 192 CR 194, Eastland, TX. Lee's legacy as a true servant of God, a dedicated husband, father,  grandfather and great-grandfather will be honored and remembered on this day.

In the presence of God and his loved ones, Lee's memory will live on, inspiring all who knew him to carry forward his spirit of devotion, faith, and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
